1998 Dodge Dakota 4×4 Club Cab
Disclaimer: I am NOT LIABLE for your actions. This is only to HELP in your installation.
This is NOT a complete How-To. I have left out several IMPORTANT steps. Please read all instructions first.
I started off on a Wednesday afternoon about 4pm. I was working alone, no air tools, no floor jack, and the temps in the mid 90′s. The body lift was from Performance Accessories, which I got from Summit for about $175.
| 1) I laid out the parts and went step by step. There aren’t any photos with the instructions, but a few diagrams… which really didn’t help that much at all. |
|
2) You will need to remove the front plastic splash guard by removing the plastic clips that hold them in. Don’t worry about saving the plastic…it all gets thrown away. |
|
| 3) Remove the Front Bumper. Two bolts on either side on Top. And Two Bolts on either side on the side supports. | |||
| 4) The Front Bumper will slid right off now | 5) Pull off the tabs that hold on the wire loom at the bottom of the radiator core | ||
| 6) Remove the 4 bolts that hold on the Fan Shroud | 7) IMPORTANT: Break apart the plastic clips that hold the brake lines together. There are 2 clips. One easily visible, the other is under the vehicle about 18″ from the first one. | ||
| |
9) REMOVE the PASSENGER SIDE Cab Bolts. Jack this side up just far enough to get the pucks into position. Put the new bolts in (with lock-tite of course) and lower the jack. Now SNUG the cab bolts, but DO NOT TIGHTEN.
| 10) Remove the DRIVER side cab bolts and jack up the cab, place the pucks in place, and put in the new bolts (with lock-tite of course) | |||
|
11) Now I put back together the front end as I was running out of daylight. To do this: Put the new bumper brackets on the FRONT frame mounts. New Bolts are supplied. |
12) For the side brackets, the instructions, to me, got very confusing. Something along the lines of removing a couple torx bolts, flipping stuff around, drilling new holes…etc. I placed the bumper back on the front, tightened up the 4 front top bolts, drilled new holes for the side brackets and put in the hardware. Seemed a lot easier to me.
| 13) Put in the new Fan Shroud Hangers: | On to Day 2! | ||
|
14a) Remove the rear bumper. This WILL help in the removing the rear bolts. 14b) Loosen the DRIVER side bolts (4 of them) |
15) REMOVE the PASSENGER side bolts and jack up the bed. Place pucks in (the smaller one goes in the very rear, next to the tailgate). Put in hardware and lower jack. SNUG bolts.
| 16) REMOVE DRIVER side bolts. Jack up the bed and place the pucks in the appropriate locations. Put in hardware and lower jack. SNUG bolts. | 17) Tighten up all 8 bed bolts. | 18) Replace bumper and check all bots one last time. | |
| Your Done!!! |
