Dodge Ram Wig-Wag Headlights
2004 Dodge Rams are Positive Side Switching! – Other years are different! Please check before ordering a flasher, but Whelen UHF2150A will do both Positive AND Negative side switching. I take no responsibility for your actions.
This is only a guide to assist those familiar with vehicle wiring systems. If you don’t know what your doing, find someone who does. Improper installation could severely ruin your electrical system. I will be glad to help you in any way. If you are somewhat local, I would be more than happy to come out and help you.
1) Open up the hood.
2) Disconnect the battery.
3) Unscrew the retaining nut for the Fuse Box.
4) Unscrew the plastic retaining clip (Phillips Head Screw – RED ARROW)
5) Find the Gray Plug. Unclip the RED retaining pin, then Depress Clip to remove. (YELLOW ARROW)
6) With 1/2″ Box/Open End/Rachet remove Fuse Box Bolt, Silver Colored (GREEN ARROW)
7) Slide Fuse Box holder towards engine 1/2″, This will release the holding pins. (BLUE ARROWS) You should now be able to tilt the fuse box forward to access the Fuse Panel Retaining Clips ..I think there are 6 plugs, each with a group of wires)
Right behind the Silver Aluminum Box, there is a Gray Colored Plug. There are multiple colored wires (Solid Yellow, Whites, Reds, and the ones you are looking for … White/Gray Stripe and a White/Green Stripe.) (PURPLE ARROWS)
9) Unplug this harness from the Fuse Box by lifting up on the white retaining latch. Slowly work the plug apart. Once it is free of the fuse box, locate the White/Gray Stripe and a White/Green Stripe.) (PURPLE ARROWS) again and cut these wires only. From the plug, go approx 3″-4″ so that you have enough room to work with the wires.
10) I mounted the Whelen UHF2150A module behind the battery box, next to the fender. Before you mount the flasher, you will need to choose which flash pattern you would like. On the back of the flasher, there will be a White/Red wire, and a White/Violet wire. Leaving or cutting them will change the flash pattern. Please check the manual for the options available. (I removed the battery completely, drilled a hole and bolted the Whelen Wig-Wag flasher to the
back on the Battery Box with a nut and bolt, but you may find a better place to put it if you like) (WHITE ARROWS) I then extended all the wires out to the Fuse Box area.
11) Ok, now we get to the actual wiring on the flasher:
A) Red – Fused at Battery ” + ”
B) Black – Battery ” – ”
C) Brown & White/Brown – Not Used, Cut off or Tie up out of the way
D) Blue – Left High-Beam Headlight (Connects to White/Gray Stripe).
E) Yellow – Right High-Beam Headlight (Connects to White/Green Stripe).
F) White/Blue – Left High-Beam Feed from Fuse Box (Connects to White/Gray Stripe).
G) White/Yellow – Right High-Beam Feed from Fuse Box (Connects to White/Green Stripe).
H) Orange & White/Black – Tied together, 12V+ to Switch
12) Plug the harness back into the bottom of the fuse box. The circuit should now be complete. Reconnect the battery if you haven’t yet. Reconnect the gray plug and remember to secure the red clip as well. (YELLOW ARROW) Test that the circuit is good by turning on the headlights. Now turn on the High Beams. All lights should work normally. Now, the big test. Flip the switch and watch the lights alternate and flash! Enjoy!
